A short story: Mr.Julius Sauter
The first Manager of the Hotel Berlin, Mr. Julius Sauter, was a hotelier with a passion for fine food. Undoubtedly this was influenced by his homeland, the Baden region close to the French border.
When he arrived at Hotel Berlin in 1958, he began to hire and inspire chefs, kitchen staff and waiters to prepare and serve sensational Baden-style cuisine to hotel guests.
Over time, the Hotel gained a reputation as one of the finest dining venues in the city and in the 1960s it boasted the top grill restaurant in Berlin.
Julius Sauter remained the hotel’s manager for 25 years and today his inspiration is alive in the heritage of the restaurant that proudly bears his name.
